Adrian, MI—Youth Programs

Description

The Summer Playground Program for children focused on physical activity and heart-healthy eating. The children participated in warm-up exercises, active games, and sports, as well as weekly theme races with prizes through the local YMCA. Healthy eating was encouraged during the program. Points were awarded to each child who brought a healthy snack item with their lunch, and prizes were given to those who accumulated the most points. Sports for Squirts was a seasonal exercise class for younger children. The class taught how to play sports without emphasizing competition. The children really enjoyed this format.
