Indianapolis, IN —Youth Programs

Description

The Recreation Adventure (RAP) and Indy After School programs focused on heart-healthy eating and physical activity. These two after-school programs offered activities, special events, and guest speakers to teach participants how to be physically active through strength training and by playing Ultimate Frisbee, floor hockey, flag football, extreme jump rope, and parachute games – to name a few. From health department staff, the youth also learned about the various food groups and how to watch calories. In addition, participants received information on blood pressure and cholesterol. In November 2003, all youth participated in the 4.5-mile Youth Fitness Walk and Rally.
