Homewood, IL—Adult Programs


Description

Sr'Cise was a program for senior adults that focused on physical activity. The participants were taught various exercises while sitting in a chair. The Healthy Lifestyles program focused on heart-healthy eating. The adults participated in nutrition classes and learned new cooking methods and ways to modify their diets for a healthier lifestyle.

Performance Measures

Healthy Lifestyles
Despite a low number of participants, pre- and post-questionnaires showed significant improvement in heart-healthy eating behavior and high blood pressure knowledge. Scores improved moderately in heart-healthy eating knowledge, overweight/obesity knowledge, and heart-healthy eating attitude.

Sr'Cise
Scores improved in physical activity level and attitude, as well as FIT score.
