Physicians of Fun, a sports and wellness camp, kicked off in May 2003. This new 10-week camp emphasized heart-healthy eating, cooking, and
physical activity. Each week, the youth participated in healthy food projects, such as learning how to prepare fruit smoothies and trying new fruits and other healthy snacks. Heart-healthy recipes were also featured in weekly
camp newsletters. For a second year in a row, camp stores sold only healthy snacks. This delighted the camp leaders who believe this new policy resulted in fewer "sugar highs" and behavioral problems.
