Meridian Township, MI—Youth Programs

Description

The Get Michigan Youth Moving summer playground program focused on physical activity and heart-healthy eating. The main objective for the playground program was to introduce and reaffirm the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle, as well as to promote social, emotional, and physical growth for the children, while participating in a variety of activities in a positive, structured environment. Children in the program participated in various sports, such as bowling, ice skating, horseback riding, swimming, dancing, game room tournaments, and much more. The children also received information on the importance of eating five fruits and vegetables each day. Each day the staff introduced a CATCH nutrition program activity, and before lunch they would talk about healthy food and snacks with the children.
