Queen Anne's Co., MD—Youth Programs


Description

Three middle schools implemented Hearts N' Parks in their after-school programs. The adolescents participated in physical activities that ranged from dance and aerobics to softball. The youth also learned about heart-healthy eating and sports nutrition through presentations by a registered dietitian and handout materials.

Participant scores showed significant improvement in overweight/obesity attitude. Other improvements were observed in heart-healthy eating knowledge and behavior.

Participant scores showed improvement in heart-healthy eating attitude and intention, and physical activity level.

Sudlersville M.S. - After School
Participant scores showed improvement in heart-healthy eating knowledge and attitude.
