Description
Participants in the Summer Fun and Fitness program met every other Saturday and received presentations on fitness followed by physical activities such as group stretching, walking, jogging, or running for at least one mile. Participants also received materials, including tips on heart-healthy eating.
For the Goodnight Loving Trail program, adults and their children were issued pedometers and encouraged to walk or run for 20-30 minutes, six days per week. Distances were recorded each day in an effort to reach a total of 400,000 steps - to walk the Goodnight Loving Trail. In addition, guest speakers were brought in to discuss the importance of eating a balanced diet. Parents were encouraged to start their family's day with a healthy breakfast and to pack healthy snacks and lunches for their kids.
