Nutrition and health education was incorporated into an existing 30-minute adult Martial Arts Karate class. Participants received an initial briefing about the class goals. Over the next eight weeks, participants received education and materials about blood pressure, cholesterol, obesity, heart-healthy eating, and the importance of physical activity. In addition, the participants had their blood pressures and heart rates checked by experts in the Fitness Division.
