Clark County, NV—Youth Programs

Description

The children’s program focused on healthy eating and physical activity. The children participated in warm-up, stretching, and cool-down exercises as they listened to a description of the various muscle groups being used. They also played active games such as tag and learned how to measure their pulse after playing games and doing exercises. Staff from the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Service led nutrition activities including discussions on heart-healthy eating, playing snack bingo, and preparing healthy snacks. At first, many of the children were hesitant about participating in these activities. After they began, they really enjoyed them and looked forward to the program sessions.
